PURPOSE:To avoid such a case where a pattern is undesirably blurred in a mapping area by deciding the mapping area where a pattern is applied and preventing the anti-aliasing processing from affecting the mapping area. CONSTITUTION:An area undergone the mapping processing is held at a mapping area holding part 23 as the position information. Then the position information on the processing subject picture element to be smoothed is collated with the position information on the mapping area held at the part 23. Then the function of a smoothing processing part 25 is prevented if the processing subject picture element exists within the mapping area.
