PURPOSE:To prevent throughput from being lowered and to make a system adaptive even without intervention of a satellite communication by measuring a data transmittal confirming time in a network where the satellite communication may exist and deciding properly the response waiting time of the system from the timer value. CONSTITUTION:When the first transmission data is finished for transmission from a network interface circuit 1, a CPU 4 starts a timer 5. When the reply data is returned from the circuit 1, the CPU 4 stops the timer 5 and fetches it in a buffer memory 2 and gives the reply data to the host through the host- interface circuit 7 and a reply waiting time deciding mechanism 6 decides the reply waiting time based on the value of the timer 5. Then the result is stored in a system variable storage section 3 and it is used as the reply wait time for succeeding communication. The reply wait time is 0.5sec in not using any satellite communication, 3sec in using one stage of satellite communication and 5sec in using two-stage of satellite communication. Thus, any case is adapted to the network.
