PURPOSE:To prevent contamination of electrolyte and improve current efficiency by providing a trap for catching the vapor of organic solvent staying in a gas passage, in the gas passage which connects a chlorine storage bath to an electrolyte bath. CONSTITUTION:A trap 8 for catching the vapor of organic solvent in a gas passage is provided in the gas passage which connects a chlorine storage bath 3 to an electrolyte bath 2. A small quantity of evaporated HCB, thus, is caught by the trap 8, further, by putting ethylene chloride trifluoride-low polymer 9 with high compatibility with HCB, stable against chlorine and with low vapor pressure into the trap 8 as a liquid and passing a circulating gas from the chlorine storage bath 3 through this, HCB in the circulating gas can be removed effectively. Accordingly, contamination of electrolyte can be prevented and secular decrease of current efficiency can be restrained, further, frequency in exchange of electrolyte or cost for regeneration of it can be reduced. |
