PURPOSE:To surely recognize deterioration of flow, chip, etc., developing in optical fiber by inserting a hand piece irradiating laser beam into a receptacle part before irradiating the laser beam and detecting reflecting beam having wide angle from the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:The laser beam 2 radiated from a laser generator 1 is controlled to opening/shutting by a shutter 15 and condensed by a condensing lens and made incident on an incident face 6 of the optical fiber 5. Then, a reflecting beam detecting element 17 is arranged at position surrounding conical beam flux to detect the reflecting beam 19. Next, the laser beam introducing the optical fiber 5 is condensed by the condensing lens 10 in inner part of the hand piece 9 at end of the optical fiber cable 7, to execute working at the condensing beam point 11. A detector 13 detecting, whether the hand piece 9 is inserted into the hand piece receptacle part 12 before working or not, and an absorption plate 14 in the inner part of the receptacle part are arranged, to prevent the laser beam 8 from leakage to outside. A circuit 20 for recognizing optical fiber damage condition compares the output of the reflecting beam detecting element 17 with a damage threshold from CPU 21, and the signal of the optical fiber damage condition is outputted to the CPU 21. |
