PURPOSE:To obtain an alloy thin band of which stabilized constant permeability can be displayed over a wide range of area by a method wherein a compressive force given type metal or alloy plated layer is applied to the surface of the amorphous alloy thin band having a positive magnetostriction constant, and a heat treatment is performed thereon. CONSTITUTION:The amorphous alloy thin band of Fe-B-Si composition is formed using a single rolling method, an electroplating work is conducted on the surface of said thin band in an electrolyte of NiSO4.6H2O:NiCl2.6H2O:H3BO3, and a compressive force given type Ni-plated layer is formed. Then, a heat treatment is conducted. As a result, the residual stress in the thin band is released, uniaxial magnetic anisotropy is given to the thin band, the longitudinal direction of the thin band is brought into the axis of hard magnetization effectively by electrodeposition stress, and the constant permeability can be obtained in a wide range of area. A metal-plated layer of an alloy-plated layer of compressive force given type consists of one or two or more kinds of material selected from Fe, Co, Cr, Ni and Cu, and it is desirable that the thickness of the plated layer is 1-10 mum.
