PURPOSE:To manufacture outer ornament parts excellent in durability and presenting blue-colored appearance, by forming a film on outer ornament parts by an ion plating method so that a ratio among the nitride, oxide, and carbide of Ti is regulated to a specific value. CONSTITUTION:A watchcase 2 is fixed in a vacuum tank 1, and the inside of the vacuum tank 1 is evacuated to a pressure of about 1X10<-5>Torr, into which an Ar gas 3 is introduced to carry out ion bombardment so as to clean the watchcase 2. Subsequently, the inside of the vacuum tank 1 is evacuated to about 1X10<-4>Torr, and electric power is applied to a Ti material 5 by means of an electron gun 5 to evaporate the material 6, and then the material 6 is ionized by means of an electrode 7 and voltage is impressed on the watchcase 2 carry out ion plating. After oxygen 9 and nitrogen 10 are introduced to carry out ion plating under about 9X10<-4>Torr degree of vacuum, acetylene 11, oxygen 9, and nitrogen 10 are introduced and ion plating is performed under about 1X10<-3>Torr degree of vacuum. By this method, a film consisting of the nitride, oxide, and carbide of Ti, having compositional ratios represented by N/T=1.6-1.7, O/Ti=1.8-2.0, and C/Ti<=0.1 by dN/dE, and presenting a blue color can be formed.
