The subject of the present invention is a quick engagement nut. According to the invention this nut includes two lateral recesses 5 and 6 which are located one on the side of the bearing face of the nut and the other on the opposite side, being opposite the first one with respect to the axis of the nut. These recesses extend as far as the tapped hole 7 of the nut and are bounded by two planes 5a or 6a which are parallel and tangential to the wall of the tapped wall 4, the sum of the heights of the two recesses 5 and 6 being greater than the height of the nut so that the latter includes, at its centre, a zone 7 which does not have any thread. <IMAGE>
