PURPOSE:To separate piled paper sheets one by one firmly, by bending the highest paper sheet on a pile by a holder and a roller and inserting a separation tool into a clearance formed between the highest paper sheet and the next lower sheet. CONSTITUTION:A holder 1 and a roller 3 are pressed on paper sheets 2, then, the roller 3 is rotated in the holder 1 direction and the highest paper sheet 2 on a pile is bent by a pressing operation of the holder 1 and the roller 3. Consequently, a clearance 5 is formed between the highest paper sheet 2 and the next lower paper sheet. Then, after a separation tool 4 is inserted into the clearance 5, a needle 20 is thrusted through the bent portion of the highest paper sheet 2. Thereafter, the holder 1 is moved upward, the highest paper sheet 2 only is held by the needle 20, to be separated from the lower paper sheet 2 and supplied to a prescribed position. Therefore, the piled paper sheets can be separated one by one surely.
