The invention relates to a wheelchair for the severely disabled or for patients paralysed by a transverse lesion of the cord (paraplegics). It comprises a support frame with wheels, a back rest, a seat and a strap with a closure. The strap comprises a pelvic strap and a shoulder strap which are releasably connectable to one another via a common closure.
