An infant safety seat for vehicles includes a seat body (1) that is mounted on a seat base (2) by means of coacting, longitudinally-extending curved surfaces (11,13) permit the seat body to be tilted to different inclinations of use, e.g. sitting and reclining, by sliding the seat body along the curved surfaces. A manually operable locking mechanism (12) comprising locking pins (19) releasably locks the seat body in each use position, while permitting quick release for movement of the seat to a different position. Predetermined relative positions of the seat body and seat base corresponding to desired use positions of the seat are indicated by registry of rollers (15) on the seat body with indentations (18) on the seat base, whereby both ease of movement of the seat body to the desired use position and alignment of the cooperative parts of the locking device are facilitated. <IMAGE>
