PURPOSE:To increase the opening area of an engine room by forming a part which extends out of a tail gate covering the upper part of a maintenance lid, on said maintenance lid as a cover for covering said engine room which is provided in the rear of a body. CONSTITUTION:In a midship type automobile, and the like, a maintenance lid 3 as a cover for covering an engine room 2 is provided on the top in the rear of a body. And, one side 3a of the lid 3 is rotatably installed, thereby, forming an engine room 2 openably and closably. On the other hand, a tail gate 4 is rotatably installed on the roof 9 of a body 1 so as to cover the lid 3. In this structure, with respect to the plane of projection of the gate 4 to the lid 3 from the upper part, parts 3b, 3c which extend out the plane of projection are formed in the rear and on both sides of the lid 3. Thereby, the opening area of the engine room 2 can be increased irrespective of the design of the gate 4.
