PURPOSE:To obtain high-purity leucine, by bringing an amino acid mixture solution containing leucine and isoleucine into contact with a resin containing an immobilized L-proline-metallic complex salt and readily and safely separating the leucine and isoleucine at a low cost. CONSTITUTION:An amino acid mixture solution containing at least leucine and isoleucine is brought into contact with a resin containing an immobilized L-proline-metallic complex salt. A chelate resin is initially chelated with metallic ions to selectively adsorb and separate the leucine from the isoleucine. In the process, since the metallic ions are eluted with the amino acid, a similar chelate resin is used to remove the metallic ions. The leucine and isoleucine can be continuously separated by recycling the metallic ions and chelate resin. The amino acid mixture solution is preferably at pH 3-9 in <=10g/dl concentration and the feed rate is preferably <=5 space velocity (SV).
