The exhaust passage cross-section of the exhaust system of a supercharged internal combustion engine (11) is designed to be adjustable by disconnectable exhaust turbines (19, 20) and by a bypass line (31) connected parallel to one of the disconnectable exhaust turbines. Since a separate, controllable shut-off device is not required for the bypass line (31), the component cost for controlling the exhaust passage cross-section of the exhaust system is low.
