Push or pull rods made from fibre-reinforced insulating material are provided with connection elements (10) for the introduction of force. The aim is that the position of their connection openings (13) can be simply adjusted and can be fixed securely but detachably. For this purpose, the connection openings (13) of the connection element (10) are arranged in a fork part (12) which is adjoined by a slotted tube part (14) which has an external (male) thread (11). An expanding member (20) is arranged in the slotted tube part (14) by means of a screw (23) which has accessible surfaces situated in the region of the fork part (12) for generating a rotary movement. The expanding member (20) can thus fix the level of the connection openings (13) with respect to the rod by the expansion of the slotted tube part (14).
