PURPOSE:To enable a motor lock function to be accomplished even when a motor is in stopping, by forming the motor into a structure such that a piston jointly provides a function of a check valve when an axial piston pump/motor is used as the motor. CONSTITUTION:When an axial piston pump/motor is used as a hydraulic motor, a negative pressure is generated in a pump chamber 7 corresponding to a suction side. Here a piston 6 retracts to a position X. Then forming a clearance 17 between a spherical end part 8 and a spherical receiving seat 9, the inside of a case 1 communicates with a fluid passage 12 of the piston 6 through this clearance 17 from a fluid introducing port 16 of a piston retainer 10. Accordingly, the motor, sucking working fluid in the case 1 into the pump chamber 7, enables a rise of pump delivery pressure, necessary for a motor lock, to be obtained. In this way, the pump/motor, if its piston jointly provides a function of a check valve, remarkably simplifies the construction enabling a motor lock function to be accomplished.
