<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the size of a clutch drum by fitting the outer circumference of a connecting shell in the clutch drum and rotary engaging. CONSTITUTION:When the outer circumference 32a of a connecting shell is rotary engaged with an open end of a clutch drum 22, it is engaged with the outer circumference 32a thereof being fitted in the open end of an inner drum 20, and thereby a shell 32 can supports radial inward load to be applied from a band brake 9 onto the drum 22 at the open end of drum. Since opposite ends of the drum 22 are supported respectively by an inner tubular section 19a and the shell 32, tubular section at one end of the drum is not required to be lengthened even if the drum 22 is fastened by the band brake 9 thus requiring only a short bearing bush 24. Consequently, components in the drum 22 can be arranged while being shifted toward the inner tubular section 19a, resulting in shortening of transmission.</p> |
