PURPOSE:To prevent abnormal noise upon locking of differential gear under traveling by providing a synchronous device comprising a synchronizer ring between a differential case and a drive shaft, and controlling the synchronous device according to outputs from a vehicle speed sensor and a steering angle sensor. CONSTITUTION:A differential unit comprises a pair of pinion gears 12 assembled through a pinion shaft 19 into a differential case 1 and a pair of side gears 11 engaged with a gear 12 supported rotatably on the differential case 1, and a drive pin 9 is engaged with a ring gear 10 secured to the differential case 1. Here, a synchronous device comprising a hub 2, a synchronizer ring 3, a sleeve 4, a key spring 6 and a piece 7 and driven through a shift fork 8 and a shaft 15 engaged with the sleeve 4 is arranged between the differential case 1 and the drive shaft 5. The shaft 15 is controlled by a controller according to outputs from a vehicle speed sensor and a steering angle sensor.
