TOOL SIZE MEASURING APPARATUS FOR NC MACHINE TOOLS

A tool magazine accommodates a large number of tools with each demountable tool placed in a predetermined position within the magazine. A reference receptacle arranged at a position different from the tool receptacles of the magazine temporarily receives the tool gripped by a mounting. A measuring element is provided which is movable in two axes perpendicular to each other so as to measure the length and outer diameter of the tool received in the receptacle. The results are then inputted into the machine program.
