PURPOSE:To prevent breakdown, and to obtain excellent insulating characteristics by a method wherein insulating paper is mounted onto the inner circumference of a square cylindrical winding, a protruding section from the edge of the winding is bent outward and superposed on the edge, a slit is formed in the axial direction to the insulating paper at a square cylindrical corner section, and the base section of a small piece is bent inward once and bent outward. CONSTITUTION:Three pressboards 5-7 for shaping a main clearance are wound outside a square-shaped low-voltage winding, insulating paper 17 is wound on the outer circumference of the pressboard 7, and a square cylindrical high-voltage winding is wound on the outside. Slits 18a are formed in the axial direction to the protruding section of insulating paper on the whole circumference including the corner sections of the winding. The slits of each insulation are displaced mutually and disposed. Small pieces positioned at rectilinear sections in small pieces 18 are bent outward, and the edges of the winding are coated through end- section insulators 9. On the other hand, the small pieces are bent inward once on lines along the tangents at corner sections at the central points B of width at the corner sections, Z-shaped folding sections 19 are shaped near lines C and the edges of a high-voltage winding are coated. According to the constitution, the base sections of the small pieces 18 are not broken, and a winding body having excellent insulating characteristics is acquired without increasing the overlapping of insulating paper.
