PURPOSE:To make it possible to facilitate the warm-up of an engine in a short time by engaging those of a plurality of speed change clutches, which are directly coupled to the output shaft of a torque converter, simultaneously with each other, when an instruction for engine warm-up operation is issued. CONSTITUTION:During engine warm-up operation in a vehicle such as a construction machine or the like, when an engine warm-up lever 34 is manipulated, a controller 30 energizes pressure control valves for speed change clutches H, L in a transmission when a parking brake 35 has been turned on, and accordingly, the clutches H, L are simultaneously engaged. As a result, an input shaft 2 falls in a fixed condition, and a torque converter 11 falls into a stall condition in which the output shaft thereof is stationary. Accordingly, the temperature of oil in the torque converter 11 is rapidly raised. When an oil temperature sensor 60 detects the oil temperature which reaches a specified value, the controller deenergizes the pressure control valves 4H, 4L so as to disengage the clutches H, L.
