PURPOSE:To permit the smooth recovery treatment without generating a resistance for a document in the starting-up part of a side fence by installing an urging member for urging a gap forming member outwardly for a sliding member. CONSTITUTION:Side fences 31 and 32 are interlocking-slided and set in conformity with the both side surfaces of a document, and then hands are lost from the side fence 31. Then, a friction member 46 contacts a rib 47, and an adjusting plate 42 is put into a fixed position state. A slider 34 is connected with the adjusting plate 42 in the state urged by a compression spring 45, and an outward force acts, Therefore, a stepped screw 44 positioned at the right edge of an elliptical hole 43 on the adjusting plate 42 minutely shifts to the contact position with the left edge of the elliptical hole 43. Therefore, also the slider 34 shifts outwardly, and the side fence 31 is set in the state separated by a minute length from the side surface of the document. Therefore, positioning of the side fences 31 and 32 for generating a gap between the side fences and document can be carried out certainly in simple ways.
