PURPOSE:To detect foreign matters quickly at a high accuracy by automatically determining the inspection area from a video output signal generated from a photoelectric converter depending on the existence of material to be inspected. CONSTITUTION:After evenly diffused with a diffusion plate 12, light 11 from a light source 10 is irradiated on a bottle 13 to be inspected being carried in with a conveyor. The light passed is focused with a condensing lens 14 and enters a two-dimensional CCD15. After amplified with an amplifier 18, video signals from each element of the CCD15 are separately transmitted to a waveform circuit 19, a bottle end detection circuit 20 and a bottle order memory circuit 21. Signals from the bottle end detection circuit 20 are input into a inspection area signal generation circuit 24 which transmits inspection are a signals determined to a gate circuit 23 and the bottle order memory circuit 21. The gate circuit 23 transmits signals only corresponding to the inspection area to a selection signal generation circuit 25 among those from the waveform shaping circuit 19. It discriminates bottles 13 being inspected and a discrimination signal to a defective bottle memory/ejection signal generation circuit 26. |
