PURPOSE:To reduce the roughness of an engine by correcting the air fuel ratio preset value based on the fluctuation quantity of the air fuel ratio sensor output. CONSTITUTION:In a device fed with the signal of an air fuel ratio sensor 142 provided on an exhaust pipe 10 to a control circuit 60 and controlling the injection quantity of an injector 12, the largest value of the maximum value and the smallest value of the minimum value are determined based on sampling values of output signals of the air fuel ratio sensor 142, and the fluctuation quantity of the air fuel ratio is calculated based on them. If this fluctuation quantity is the preset value or higher, the fuel is increased, if it is the preset value or less, the fuel is decreased. The fuel correction factor when the air fuel ratio is stabilized is stored and updated in the memory. Accordingly, the air fuel ratio is set to the optimum value, and the roughness can be reduced.
