PURPOSE:To eliminate a defective and omission of a cylindrical positive electrode and make it possible to fix a current collecting rod exactly at the center of the cylindrical positive electrode by providing a hollow current collecting rod of metal embedded in a cylindrical positive electrode with an opening at least at the periphery at the top to be integrated with the terminal of the positive electrode. CONSTITUTION:The battery of the title includes an alkali metal negative electrode 2 pressure- applied to the inner wall of a cylindrical metal can with a bottom 1, a cylindrical positive electrode 4 disposed on the inner side of the negative electrode 2 through a separator 3 and consisting of porous carbon, a hollow current rod of metal 5 embedded in the cylindrical positive electrode 4 with an opening at least at the periphery at the top, a positive electrode terminal 6 to be provided integrally with the current collecting rod 5, and electrolyte 12 mainly including oxyharogen compound contained in the metal can 1. As the electrolyte 12 can be injected into the battery through the opening provided at the periphery of the current collecting rod 5, the current collecting rod 5 and positive electrode terminal 6 can be integrated and connected with each other securely. The current collecting rod 5 can thus be set at the center of the cylindrical positive electrode 4 preliminarily, thereby a defective and omission of the cylindrical positive electrode 4 are eliminated, and the current collecting rod 5 can be fixed exactly at the center of the cylindrical positive electrode 4. |
