PURPOSE:To obtain a paint having excellent corrosion and abrasion resistances, by incorporating white tar and powdered stainless steel flakes into an epoxy resin. CONSTITUTION:A paint composition made by incorporating 50-500pts.wt. white tar and 50-500pts.wt. powdered stainless steel flakes into 100pts.wt. epoxy resin. A white tar to be used is a resinous substance, such as a petroleum resin, an indene-coumarone resin or a xylene resin, inert to epoxy resin and a curing agent; the one used for a non-tar epoxy resin paint is adequate. The powdered stainless steel flakes preferably have a particle size below 200 mesh with a thickness of about 0.1-0.5mum. For improved corrosion resistance, the flake should be flat in shape and have an aspect ratio (flake diameter/flake thickness) of 1 or greater. If necessary, a filler, a thixotropic agent, an additive, and a solvent are added to this composition.
