<p>PURPOSE:To perform interpolation without degrading the resolution of a reproduced picture with a simple constitution by calculating two interpolation sample values in accordance with sample values of two sample point groups and performing interpolation with one of these interpolation sample values whose difference from the just preceding sample value is smaller. CONSTITUTION:A one-dimensional LPF in the vertical scanning direction is formed with 1H delay circuits 1 and 4 and an adder 2, and an interpolation sample value calculated in accordance with sample values at two sample points s1 and s2 is outputted from the adder 2. A one-dimensional LPF in the horizontal scanning direction is formed with delay circuits 12 and 13 and an adder 10, and an interpolation sample value calculated in accordance with sample values at two sample points s3 and s4 is outputted from the adder 10. Interpolation is performed with one of two interpolation sample values, whose difference from the just preceding sample value is smaller, to eliminate unnecessary components, which appear in low bands in horizontal and vertical scanning directions, by one-dimensional LPFs in vertical and horizontal directions respectively. Thus, interpolation is satisfactorily performed by a device of simple constitution.</p> |
