PURPOSE:To perform health check between nodes without arranging a specific node having a node controller in a packet network, by connecting a dedicated terminal for health check to a general subscriber line. CONSTITUTION:The dedicated terminal 4 for health check sends a call setting packet to the dedicated terminal 5 for health check and a designated general subscriber terminal 6 periodically, meanwhile, call cut-off packets are returned from the dedicated terminal 5 and the designated general subscriber terminal 6. At this time, the node impossible to return the cut-off packet normally due to a call cut-off factor is stored in a node state storing memory as a defective node in the health check, and also, the fact is displayed to a maintenance engineer.
