PURPOSE:To contrive to eliminate confusion at switching by monitoring a signal used for the end of recording during reproduction of a reply message in an automatic answering telephone set having a function to record a reply message by remote control and transferring the message recording when the said signal is detected. CONSTITUTION:When an incoming detection circuit 30 detects an incoming signal from a trunk line via a telephone line terminal 1 and a control circuit 20 discriminates it as an incoming call, a relay 18 is activated. Then a relay contact l3 is closed and a DC loop to a speech circuit network 4 to the line. In closing the line, the circuit 20 starts a motor 25 to send the reply message recorded from a stand-by position. The the signal on a tape 23 of the reply message is picked up by a head 21 and sent to a line terminal 1. The reproducing signal of the reply message end is detected by a silence detection circuit 33. Thus, the control circuit 20 activates a relay A19 to start the motor 26 thereby stating message recording.
