PURPOSE:To prevent a lithium negative electrode from reaction in controlling the transmission quantity of gases or water vapor in the atmosphere by setting the thickness of an insulating sealing plate which is located between both terminals of positive and negative electrodes to a small value. CONSTITUTION:For an insulating sealing plate 24, an ionomer resin obtained by polymerization of metallic cations such as Na or Zn and a basic copolymer such as ethylene or methacrylic acid is used by itself, or a three layered struc ture of ionomer resin combined with synthetic resins such as polyethylene or polypropylene, or denatured polyethylene in which carboxygroup is graft polymer ized or polypropylene is used. In the case of ionomer resin by itself or of three layered structure the thickness shall be in the range of 0.05 mm to 0.40 mm. When the thickness is less than 0.05 mm the distance between both terminal boards of positive and negative electrodes becomes too close and an electric short circuit can occur. When the thickness is more than 0.40 mm the transmit tance of gases increases in proportion to the area of the gap. |
