A fabricated master cylinder has a metal pressure cylinder (1) and a surrounding flange body (2) formed by bending a metal strip transversely of its longitudinal axis to form a generally circular portion (15) surrounding the cylinder and a pair of loop formations (16) for the reception of fixing bolts (17) passed through the formations into a support (20). When the cylinder is fixed to the support, a flange (4) of the cylinder is trapped between the flange body and support. The flange body may, if required, be welded to the cylinder at a location outside the area swept by an internal piston (5).
