This invention provides a method of preparing a granular inoculant composition for plants, which comprises mixing at least one species of microorganism capable of having a beneficial effect on the plants with a peat or peat/clay carrier medium; mixing the product with calcium sulphate and moistening to cause aggregation; and drying to produce free-flowing granules.
