PURPOSE:To rapidly execute error processing and the restart of a duplex comparing mode by automatically switching the duplex comparing mode based upon two processing units and independent operation for error processing which is to be executed by one processing unit. CONSTITUTION:One and the other out of data processing units 105, 109 are specified as a master unit and a checker unit by a master/checker specifying circuit 103, and at the time of operation in the duplex comparing mode, output data from the master unit are compared with the internal data of the checker unit by a comparator 108 or 112. When a comparing error is generated, one data processing unit executes independent processing for error processing based on an output from a duplex comparing mode reset circuit 101. When a duplex comparing instruction is generated in the execution process of an error processing routine, the circuit 101 is reset and both units are driven in the duplex comparing mode.
