PURPOSE:To enable execution of response between a work and an NC program at a cost proper for application, by a method wherein, by detecting the phase and the sound pressure of ultrasonic waves reflected by a work, the position or the shape or both of the work are discriminated. CONSTITUTION:By detecting the phase and the sound pressure of ultrasonic waves reflected by a work, the position and the shape of the work are discriminated, a detecting timing is engraved the arbitrary plural number of times, and a desired processing is practicable by means of an engraving way. Namely, a sequence controller part 30 sets a detecting timing engraved by a desired way, d sensor controller part 20 specifies the detecting timing to a sensor part 10, and at the specified detecting timing, the sensor part 10 detects the phase and the sound pressure of ultrasonic waves at the specified timing. In which case, based on the detecting timing, the sensor controller part 20 converts a phase and a sound pressure into distance data, which is reported to the sequence controller part 30. This reports confirms response between an NC program and the work.
