PURPOSE:To accurately detect a fact that a bit point has been inserted into the groove of an inserted work, by detecting a relative distance a tip position of the point bit and the inserted work such as a screw or the like with an optical fiber or the like installed in the point bit. CONSTITUTION:Light out of a light source 17 is irradiated out of a light projecting fiber 14, and the reflected light is detected by a light receiving element 16 via a light receiving fiber 15, than a motor 6 is advanced forward along a shaft 7 by a cylinder 2 while measuring a distance between a point bit 3 and a screw 9 by the output current value. And, the point bit 3 held by the housing 5 fixed to a turning shaft of a motor 1 comes into contact with the screw 9, and when a fact that the point bit 3 is not entered in a groove of the screw 9 is detected by the light receiving element 16, the point bit 3 is rotated by the motor 1, having it engaged with this groove, whereby engagement between the point bit 3 and the screw 9 is confirmed by the (a') direction movement made by the spring 4. Thus, working properties is improvable.
