PURPOSE:To obtain a silver halide photosensitive material for exposure by a laser beam with which uneven scanning is inconspicuous by coating a hardened hydrophilic colloid layer including a silver halide layer contg. coarse particles and fine particles at a specific ratio on a base. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive material consists of at least a base, and a hydrophilic colloid layer contg. a silver halide emulsion layer coated thereon. The hydrophilic colloid layer is so hardened as to have >=4min thawing time (the time when the layer begins to thaw when left standing at 60 deg.C in a 0.5N aq. caustic soda soln.). The silver halide layer has a silver halide emulsion of coarse particles having 0.5-1.0mu average grain size and a silver halide emulsion of fine particles having 0.1-0.4mu average grain size at (95:5)-(40:60) ratio by weight of silver. A particulary useful sensitizing dye is expressed by the formula (Z, Z1 is the nonmetallic atom group necessary for perfecting a thiazole nucleus, etc.; R0 is C1-6 alkyl, etc.; R, R1 are alkyl, etc.; L1, L2, L3 are methyl, etc;, X is anion; m is 0, 1). If such dye is used, the linearity of a D-logE characteristic is considerably improved. |
