PURPOSE:To reduce the noise level by separating the lining on a steel smoke stack with a separating cylinder, a lining separating tool and a biasing means by suspending a gondola at a suitable height, and eliminate the need of repainting of the outer surface by removing the steel reinforcement in the lining at the same time. CONSTITUTION:The lining 3 on the steel smoke stack 2 is separated with a separating cylinder 19a, a lining separating tool 20 and a biasing means 21 by a gondola 4 suspended in a smoke stack 1 at a suitable height. Then, rotary plates 6 are rotated horizontally at a predetermined angle along with the separat ing too, etc., and such a separation process is repeated. After completing the separation at that height, the gondola 4 is lowered by one pitch, and the separa tion processes are repeated to remove the lining 3. Therefore, there is no need to use a crusher, and the noise level can be reduced, allowing the separation work to be continued at night or early morning. Further, by removing the steel reinforcement 23 in the lining at the same time, then outward deformation of the steel smoke stack 2 can be prevented, eliminating the need of repainting the outer surface.
