PURPOSE:To stabilize the amt. of the developer packed in a space formed of a developer supply member, control member and developer carrier and to prevent a decrease in density in spite of a copying operation for a long period of time by providing a rotating member which controls the amt. of the developer to be packed in the space into said space. CONSTITUTION:The excess developer 6 controlled by the control member 4, of the developer transferred on the developer carrier 1 is also deposited in the space enclosed by the developer carrier 1, the control member 4 and the developer agitation and supply member 8 at the time of conveying the developer in a hopper 10 successively onto the supply member 2 by rotation of the supply member 8, so that the excess developer 6 exists on the supply member 2. The rotating member 9 is, therefore, freshly disposed in the space and the excess developer 6 is returned into the hopper 10 by using the member. The amt. of the developer 6 in the space is thus maintained always at an adequate amt., by which a developer layer of a stable layer thickness is formed on the carrier 1. |
