PURPOSE:To speed up a read action and to improve the stability of the action by giving a period in which first and second sense amplifier circuits respectively operate while a first switching circuit is in a non-conductive state. CONSTITUTION:The switching circuit 15 is connected between a first couple of bit lines BL1 and -BL1 and a second couple of bit lines BL2 and -BL2. The sense amplifier circuit 14 and 17 are connected to the first couple of bit lines BL1 and -BL1 and the second couple of bit lines BL2 and -BL2, and the first couple of bit lines BL1 and -BL1 and the second couple of bit lines BL2 and -BL2 are independently sense-amplified. Thus, the period, from the potential difference of couples of the bit lines BL begins to be transmitted until the sense amplification action is terminated, is speeded up and a restoring action is speeded up, whereby the stability of the action can be improved.
