PURPOSE:To attain accurate recording or reproduction of information by providing a cleaning means to remove the dust stuck onto the surface of an information storage medium and a means pressing the cleaning means onto the information storage medium so as to eliminate the adverse effect due to the dust. CONSTITUTION:The cleaning means to remove the dust stuck onto the surface of the information storage medium and the pressing means pressing the cleaning means onto the information storage medium are provided. For example, in applying a current to a solenoid 25, a movable iron core 26 is attracted against the energizing force of tensile springs 27, 31 and a compression spring 29. In driving a lever 22, the cleaner 21 fitted to the tip of the lever 22 is abutted and brought into contact with the lower face of the optical disk 1. Then a spindle motor 11 drives a turntable 10 to drive the optical disk 1 with respect to the cleaner 21, since the cleaner 21 is brought into contact with the lower face of the optical disk 1, the optical disk 1 is slided against the cleaner 21 and the dust stuck onto the lower face of the optical disk 1 is wiped out.
