Phosphine cpds. of formula (I) are prepd. by reacting 9,10dihydro-9- oxo-10-phosphophenanthrene-10-chloride (DOPC) with carbanion-contg.- metal carboxylic acid ester (malonic acid diester, succinic acid diester, glutaminic acid diester or adipic acid diester). In the formula, R=C1-4 alkylene,; R1=-COOCH3 or -COOCH2CH2OH; R2=halogen or C1-4 alkyl; n1=2, n2=0-2 integer. (I) may be used as a raw material for producing flameproof fibers, films or resins.
