Bagless continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis comprising a valve (12) having first, second and third fluid ports (A, B, C). The first and second fluid ports (A, B) are secured to first and second fluid containers (54, 62) respectively, through tubing (48, 56) and connector assemblies (50, 52, and 58, 60). The third fluid port (C) is connected through tubing (64) to a catheter (70) implanted in the abdominal wall of a user, also through a connector assembly (66, 68). The valve (12) includes an actuator (38) moveable at least between four positions, a first position (fig. 6b) which all of the fluid ports (A, B, C) are blocked, a second position (fig. 6c) in which the second and third fluid ports (B, C) are interconnected, a third position (fig. 6d) in which the first and second fluid ports (A, B) are interconnected, and a fourth position (fig. 6e) in which the first and third fluid ports (A, C) are interconnected. The method employs the valve (12) to provide dialysis by reversing the fluid containers (54, 62) and the direction of movement of the valve actuator (38) for alternate cycles. |
