PURPOSE:To suppress the deterioration of a heat generating element, by providing a brake value to the upper limit of the resistance value of a heat generating element and driving a thermal head without further increasing voltage to be applied when said resistance value reaches said brake value. CONSTITUTION:Heat generating elements R2-Rn are selectively used in recording but a heat generating element R1 is not used in recording and driven only when the resistance values in all of the heat generating elements are measured. The heat generating element R1 is driven and the resistance value RB of the heat generating element R1 is calculated and, next, the heat generating elements R2-Rn are driven to calculate an average resistance value RA and a resistance increase rate (RA-RB)/RB=C is operated. The upper limit value becoming the braking of the deterioration of the heat generating elements incorporated in a thermal head is set to K1 and, in the case of C<K1, RA is used as it is to control electric energy to be supplied but, when C>K1 is formed, electric energy is supplied to the heat generating elements R2-Rn on and after on the basis of the resistance value corresponding to RB(1+K1) to drive the same. |
