PURPOSE:To obtain a beautiful transparent or lustrous image free of beading or the like, by providing an ink-receiving layer comprising a substance capable of being dissolved in or swollen with an ink at a surface layer, and specifying the quantity of the ink given to the ink-receiving layer. CONSTITUTION:A recording material for ink jet recording is used which has an ink-receiving layer comprising a substance capable of being dissolved in or swollen with an ink at a surface layer and in which absorption and fixation of the ink are mainly achieved through dissolution or swelling of the substance. The quantity of the ink given to the ink-receiving layer is not more than 10nl/mm<2> per second. When the quantity of the ink given to the ink-receiving layer is thus set, it is possible to sufficiently suppress migration of the ink between linked droplets by the dissolution or swelling of the ink-receiving layer, even when adjacent droplets make contact with each other, so that beading is prevented from occurring. The ink-receiving layer may be formed from any material which can absorb a water base ink and can maintain a dye contained in the ink. Since the inks used are mainly water base inks, it is preferable that the ink-receiving layer is formed from a water-soluble or hydrophilic polymer. |
