PURPOSE:To manufacture a magnetic head on which contact travel property is attached, by cutting a core block to azimuth theta=(theta1+theta2)/2 assuming that angles made between the tangent lines of two oblique planes and the normal of a main plane are set as theta1 and theta2 and the azimuth of the magnetic head as theta at both ends of the gap forming plane of a track width regulating groove. CONSTITUTION:The core block 4 can be obtained by cutting plural track regulating grooves 2 of recessed shape in parallel from a magnetic core block joint plane 1A in an oxide magnetic substrate 1 extending over entire width of the substrate. And the core is joined so as to butt bed parts 3 on at least the main flat plane 1a on one side out of a pair of core blocks 4 and 6, then, glass welding is applied. Simultaneously, a nonmagnetic material 7 is welded and filled in the grooves 2, 2. In such a way, a head block in which the butting part of the bed parts 3, 3 are set as the magnetic gap can be obtained. Next, cutting is performed so that the two oblique planes 2a and 2b to regulate track width are provided at both ends of the gap forming plane 1A, and the azimuth theta can be set as theta=(theta1+theta2)/2 assuming that the angles made between the direction of the tangent lines of the oblique planes 2a and 2b and the normal of the main plane 1a are set as theta1 and theta2 and the azimuth of the magnetic head as theta.
