PURPOSE:To reduce the height consisting of an intermediate stage fork and a final stage fork by driving the final stage fork by two chains installed onto the side of a linear motor. CONSTITUTION:A slidable fork device is constituted of a fixed fork 10 installed onto an elevator board, intermediate stage fork 20, and a final stage fork 30. A linear motor is installed only between the fixed fork 10 and the intermediate stage fork 20. The primary side 40 of the linear motor is installed inside the recessed part of the fixed fork 10. A chain 70a fixed at one edge of the final stage fork 30 is fixed at one edge of the fixed fork 10, passing through a sprocket 25a. A chain 70b fixed at the other edge of the final stage fork 30 is fixed at the other edge of the fixed fork 10, passing through a sprocket 25b. When a coil 50 is energized, the intermediate stage fork 20 having a movable element 60 projects to one side. Therefore, the final stage fork 30 projects in the same direction through the chains 70a and 70b.
