PURPOSE:To improve matching properties between a roof trim and a body side garnish, by a method wherein the roof trim is brought into impact contact with the upper edge of a body side garnish extending along a roof side rail. CONSTITUTION:A harness 18 is previously arranged to the back of a body side garnish 3 throughout a range of from the inner surface of a front pillar to the inner surface of a roof side rail 11. A connector 18a at the terminal of the harness and is positioned to a portion situated in the vicinity of a connector 19a at the end of a harness 9 on the roof assembly 2 side. A positioning groove 11b is formed in a recessed manner in an upper edge flange part 11a of the roof side rail 11. Meanwhile, a plurality of tongue pieces 19a engaged with the positioning groove 11b is protruded from the side edge of a roof trim 19. After the tongue piece 19a of a roof trim is engaged with a recessed groove 11b of the roof side rail 11, the roof assembly 2 is mounted to the body side assembly 3.
