PURPOSE:To reduce the number of printing lines and save a printing paper, by a system wherein when a plurality of kinds of printing data are given, the sum total of the numbers of columns of the data is counted, and when the sum total is not more than the maximum number of columns capable of being printed in one line, the data are printed in one line. CONSTITUTION:The content of data A in a data area MA is analyzed to calculate an effective number of printing columns, (a). Similarly, an effective number of printing columns, (b), for data B in a data area MB is calculated. By using the calculated effective numbers of columns, (a) and (b), for the data A and B, the sum a+b+1 is calculated, and it is determined whether the sum is not more than the maximum number of printing columns in one line, C. In the calculation of the sum, the numerical value 1 is used for providing a one-column space between the data A and the data B at the time of printing the data A and B in one line. When a+b+1<=C, the data A and B can be printed in one line. In this case, the data A and B are converted into printable codes, which are stored into a printing buffer, are edited, and the resultant data is given to a printer 14 to print the data on a paper 15. |
