PURPOSE:To effectively improve rigidity of a car body, by a method wherein the central part of a car body of a hollow beam formed with a rear floor panel and a middle cross member is reinforced by a reinforcing member. CONSTITUTION:A front floor panel 4 has a floor tunnel 3, formed in a chevron, which is protruded from the central part of the front floor panel along the longitudinal direction of a car body. The rear edge thereof is superposed with the upper surface of a bent edge part 8, formed to a suspension part 6 of a rear floor panel 5, to join them together by welding. A middle cross member 9 is extended at the rear of the suspension part 6 along the direction of the width of a car body. The middle cross member 9 forms a laterally-extending hollow boxform beam in association with the rear floor panel 5. A cylindrical upper reinforcing member 15, formed approximately in the same shape in cross section as that of a through-hole 13, and is joined with the front of a longitudinal plate 9a of the middle cross member 9, and a lower reinforcing member 16, formed in a steppedly bent shape, is joined with the under side of a shelf part 14.
