COATED PRESS BELTS FOR USE IN AN EXTENDED NIP PRESS

The structure of the continuous carrier blanket for use in broad-nip presses of papermaking machines, with a PUR (polyurethane) cladding, has successive warps (11) at least on one side of the material. The crossing wefts (18) form double spaces across them. One part of the warps (11) uses a material with a high longitudinal stability, while the other part is composed of a material highly resistant to wear. At least one part of the wefts (18) is of a high wear-resistant material. At least six warps form a repeat. The pref. wear-resistant materials is a polyamide, and the recommended longitudinally-stable material is Kevlar (RTM) or steel. The dia. of at least one part of the wefts is at least 25% greater than the dia. of the warps, and the dia. of part of the warps is at least 25% greater than the dia. of the remaining warps. The wefts on the cladding side are of a multifilament material. The cladding is of rubber.
