PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetometer which does not generate any noise due to the electrostatic charging of a sample support part by composing the sample support part of a base which is nonmagnetic and contains no ferromagnetic impurities, forming a nonmagnetic conductor thin film on its surface, and grounding the thin film. CONSTITUTION:The nonmagnetic conductor thin film (Cr film of about 0.03mum in thickness, Pt film of about 0.02mum, etc.) is formed by a high-frequency sputtering method, etc., on the surface of the sample support part constituent base 30 formed of the nonmagnetic material (ceramic, glass, etc.) containing no ferromagnetic impurities. The thin film 31 is grounded 33 by connecting the base material 30 to a magnetometer main body (whose main body side is grounded). In this constitution, charges generated by air friction by vibration of the support part 2 for the sample 32 are not accumulated through the operation of an earth line. The thin film 31 contains ferromagnetic impurities, its total amount is small because the film is thin, and its influence is a little and can be ignored. The measurement accuracy is therefore improved.
